Who would have thought the beach would be such a place of freedom to her. It wasn't that many years go that she wouldn't go near the water. It makes me happy to see her so free. And it makes me sad - the contrast - between this sort of freedom and the everyday life of a 6 year old (ALMOST anyway). It is SO seldom that she really gets to let loose. Dance on the couch? Yes I let her do that... as long as she's not too loud, and as long as she doesn't get too near the edge and.. and... and...

As I was scoping out my location for a family shoot recently a bright yellow butterfly caught my eye. I chased him for a while before realizing I was going to get lost or be late or both. I know my subject here gets a little lost in black and white but it was more interesting this way.

or... Studies in movement. Last Halloween, Abby's costume (a wedding gown) was made by Gramma. Abby adored it. I took these Halloween Evening as we waited for it to be time to trick or treat. Abby is dancing with her doll who does have a matching wedding gown but was not wearing it at the time.
